THE ROAD TO CONFIDENT RIDING - SOLD OUT
THE ROAD TO CONFIDENT RIDING
SERIES 1, EPISODE 1
Running Time 55 minutes
David and Sandi Simons have been involved in the horse industry for well over 20 years. They are two of Australia's leading horse and rider educators and conduct regular clinics and symposiums around the country.
‘The Road to Confident Riding’, is a new TV show dedicated to helping riders to gain (or regain) confidence. Sandi and David will teach you on-ground and ridden training exercises that are guaranteed to help you and your horse enjoy each other again.
The pilot episode follows Sandi as she conducts a typical weekend women’s confidence clinic. The group begins their clinic with a “round table” session where the student’s horse issues and concerns are discussed before hands-on work begins. After a day of groundwork, the students spend their second day converting their new skills into ridden exercises – although not all are ready to hop in the saddle yet. As a special feature, David Simons then takes the more advanced students into riding and training exercises for a softer horse, lightening the contact and competition performance enhancement.
This show is like no other training DVD you have ever seen and is a must see for all horse owners. You will be touched by the journey of the students; following them from their shaky beginnings through to the joy and excitement of their return to riding.
The pilot was filmed at the stunning racing property, ‘Wingrove Park’, in the Macedon Ranges Shire, Victoria Australia, 2012.
"THE WAY OF THE HORSE" 2011
Running Time 130 minutes
Held in Sydney Showground's Dome Pavilion and proudly presented by Hawkesbury River Saddlery Co “The Way Of The Horse” (TWOTH) once again proved to be an extremely popular event within EQUITANA Sydney with record crowds watching on all three days of the challenge.
The Way Of The Horse bought three of Australia’s most talented horsemen together with some beautiful young horses from the Coolidowns Australian Stock Horse Stud. All the three contestants, Greg Powell, Dan Maloney and David Manchon, displayed admirable horsemenship skills and techniques which did not make it easy for our judges (Bobby Ingersoll, Stacy Westfall and Edward Gal) to select the eventual 2011 winner
The Challenge was taken away by NSW local and crowd favourite, Greg Powell, whose calm and reassuring way of dealing with young horses leaves even the most hardened horse trainer breathless. Coolidowns Stock Horse Stud, that is run by Sue and Reg Ryan who have been breeding Australian stock horses for over forty years, generously donated the horse to Greg’s Kalandan Foundation.
Greg Powell walked away with especially engraved TWOTH buckle and OutLaw Master Fender Stock Saddle which was provided by the presenting partner Hawkesbury River Saddlery Co. Each contestant also received vouchers from RB Sellars, the official clothing outfitter of EQUITANA Australia.

The Way Of The Horse – Australian Horsemanship Challenge 2010
Running Time 120 minutes
The Way of the Horse is Australia’s most prestigious horsemanship competition designed to be a display of skill and knowledge rather than a breaking challenge.
The ‘traditional’ methods of creating a relationship between humans and horses have often been based on “mastery over” and “breaking of” a horse being the desired outcome. However, the wave of natural horsemanship over the last decade has showed us how to create a relationship of mutual understanding and respect, which in turn leads to better performance, because our equine partner wants to work with us.
The Way Of The Horse – Australian Horsemanship Challenge was initially introduced into the EQUITANA program in 2005, as acknowledgement of this shift in thinking and to showcase the many wonderful trainers in Australia who also believe that the relationship between humans and horses should be a willing partnership. During the 2010 challenge, Australian horseman, Adam Sutton (Vic), Steve Halfpenny (SA) and Chad Brady (NSW), demonstrate their highly personal and specialised methods of connecting with an unhandled horse.
In this electrifying two-day horsemanship contest, the action begins right from the start, with the three trainers working simultaneously in separate roundpens, so you can compare starting methods and training styles. The contestants are judged by a respected panel of Equestrians, who award individual points for the techniques used, in order to determine who takes out the challenge.
The Way Of The Horse is exciting, educational and not to be missed!
